HUGE GAS REFINERY EXPLOSION IN PUERTO RICO

at 12:30 AM a gas tank exploded in the Gulf refinery near the Buchanan Base in Puerto Rico. i can see the fire and smoke from my apartment which is pretty far away. it is still burning and 2 tanks have already exploded, possibly more by now. there is already a lot of documentation, it is scary with all the stressful situations occurring in the island. there is a lot of speculation of how it started, some said an air plain fell, others a malfunction.

there is so much smoke, they are not dealing with the fire right now, they are trying to keep the remaining tanks cool so they don't explode and make it worse.

here is the documentation for those interested:

This week will be harsh and tense. The UPR (University of Puerto Rico) the state univiersity, will not be giving classes this week nor administrative services, due to all the shit that's been going on, protests, strikes, and the like, for the past months. The classes have already been extended to the 21st of December from what i have heard, and who knows what they will do now after one more week has to be added to the calendar. On top of that this Thursday, October 15th is the national strike, yes NATIONAL strike.

For those of you who don't know, the state government has implemented a new law, "Law Number 7" short for "Ley Especial Declarando Estado de Emergencia Fiscal y Estableciendo Plan Integral de Estabilización Fiscal para Salvar el Crédito de Puerto Rico" (Special Law Declaring a State of Fiscal Emergency and Establishing an Integral Plan of Fiscal Stability to Save the Credit of Puerto Rico) In the name of this law the local government has fired 20,000 employees, leaving a lot of government agencies basically inoperable, some of those agencies are "Attorneys for the women" that help women who have been molested or abused (they fired the lawyers), "Attorneys for the Elderly", "Forensic Science" (who do the forensic investigations for the homicide cases) "Special Education Program" (firing psychologists, therapists, and other people who help special needs students) amongst other agencies.

The big deal is not only the firings, but the way in which they were conducted, randomly. Pregnant women were left without jobs, single mothers and fathers, family providers and even married couples were fired at the same time leaving BOTH husband and wife jobless. Now, to make matters worse, those people who lost their jobs due to the massive firings by the government can not be re-employed in ANY government job for 2 years, yes 2 years, their only way of getting a job is the private industry which here in Puerto Rico is very unstable. Companies are leaving to other countries where the cost is a lot less and on top of the government firings there is also the private sector's mass firings, last year Glaxo-Smith-Kline closed operations leaving thousands of people unemployed. This was the worst time to make those firings. The government will not stop firing employees till they reach their goal.

Things are getting pretty violent. The governor activated the National Guard and they have been beating up people in the manifestations ever since, a clear terrorist tactic from our local government. They want the people to be intimidated and not protest or they will get beat up. Just a coupple of days ago they did not let a group of middle schoolers (or high schoolers not sure) protest because the governor was to close to their school, so they started throwing rocks and stuff. The police beat them up and threw tear gas at them. It started with the college students getting beat up for no reason, then the protesters, now public school kids, what's next? They threw an egg at the governor, he must know what's next.

Police attack on a student that was INSIDE the grounds of the University of Puerto Rico's student dorm, far away from where the original dispute started. The police made a barrier so no person could come in or out of the street and they were throwing tear gass. this student was hit by one of the tear gas thingies that they shot.

Things are not smooth at my university as well, the government is trying to push us to pretty much become inoperable as well so they can sell us....i just hope i get to FINISH this semester...ugh and just when i was only missing ONE year, things get this screwed up...let's see how it goes for us....

For those of you who don't know a girl ran away with her internet boyfriend this week, she just turned 14 and he was 23. This article shows how narrow minded the police and above all the journalists in PR are. Before this article there was another one saying that he was satanic because he was a "goth", and he was called a goth because he "dressed in black". Hah, now tons of ppl are gonna thing deviantart is a breeding ground for pedos and sexual predators (which mite be somewhat true lol) but we, as users, and us women have to learn to keep our personal info private (adress, phone #, etc.) i'll be posting another journal later.

for those who don't understand spanish use google translator or babel lol but here is the part that concerns DA

"The other thing, somewhat more concrete, we know the young man accused yesterday had an interest in the arts. Indeed, a journal published in the cyber portal DeviantArt.com, Manfredi is interested specifically in reading and drawing.

In the cyber diary he makes no reference to issues related to Satanism. In contrast, he abounds on their changing mood, their readings and their musical interests.

This site seems to be one of those who served as a point of contact between the child and the young

Australian on various topics, mostly related to the arts. Also, on several occasions Manfredi published comments of his supposed affection for Plaza Torres."
